What is an ice pack for after childbirth?
After childbirth, the body needs immediate soothing. Cold is recognised for its natural anti-inflammatory effects: it helps reduce swelling, calm pain and limit burning sensations in the perineal area.
Beyond the first hours, the pack remains useful for painful periods, bouts of haemorrhoids, after physical exertion or to relieve lower back pain.
How to use the Maholi ice pack

At least 2 hours before use. Tip: ask the maternity ward to put it in the freezer on arrival, so that it is ready from the very first hours.
- Slip into the cover
Always use the pack with one of the two covers supplied. Never directly on the skin.
- Apply for 10 to 20 minutes
Lying down, without excessive direct pressure. Several times a day if needed.

Questions about this product
Why does cold work on perineal pain?
Cold tightens the blood vessels in the area, which limits inflammation and numbs the pain. As soon as the area warms up again, microcirculation resumes, oxygenates the tissues and supports their regeneration. It is this double movement, vasoconstriction then vasodilation, that makes perineal cold therapy particularly suited to the postnatal period.
Does cold slow the healing of stitches or an episiotomy?
No, rather the opposite. By reducing swelling and tissue tension, cold supports regeneration. The strict rule: never apply the pack directly to the skin, always use one of the two covers supplied, and avoid a wound that is still open or very fresh.
Can the pack be reused well beyond the post-partum?
Yes, it is a product designed to last. Beyond the post-partum, it helps with painful periods, bouts of haemorrhoids, hot flushes, occasional pelvic discomfort or muscle fatigue after exertion.
