How Beboon was born.

I had prepared everything. The pregnancy as a project: the right doctors, the right midwife, the right classes, the right books. I had read up on the post-partum the way you prepare for a journey. Seriously. Confidently. I thought the hardest part lay ahead of me on the day of the birth, and that everything after would follow, naturally, from that preparation.

My delivery became complicated. I spent ten days on the maternity ward, in a state I had not anticipated, in a hospital room that was nothing like the cocoon I had imagined for meeting my daughter. Everything I had prepared (the soft light, the music, the slowness of the first days), suddenly seemed out of reach.

So I did the only thing left to me. I recreated a bubble. I switched off the strip lights and dimmed the room, set a night light beside the cot, put a playlist on repeat. I brought in what was needed to feel, in spite of everything, at home. The nurses would come in and pause on the threshold. “It really feels good in here.”

In that room, with my tiny child against my skin, I understood something simple, and a little dizzying. For nine months we are taught to prepare everything for the baby: the perfect cot, the washed clothes, the room ready. We are told almost nothing about the one thing a baby truly needs: a mother who feels well. A mother who is calm, grounded, supported. Everything else flows from there.

That is where Beboon was born. Not in a market study, not in a strategic plan. There, in that room. With the conviction that looking after yourself during the post-partum is not a luxury you allow yourself when all is well: it is a strength you summon, especially when everything is going wrong.

BeboonCare brings together what I would have wanted to find at that moment. I am neither a midwife nor a psychologist. I am the founder of a brand I created because, at one precise moment in my life, I looked for something that did not exist.
